  1. The Essential Guide to Moving & Improving CD-ROM

  3. Minimum System Requirements
  4. This Moving & Improving CD-ROM requires the following minimum system to work 
  5. correctly:

  8. ò     Pentium 133 with 16 Mb RAM
  9. ò     4 speed CD-ROM drive
  10. ò     High-colour (16-bit) display
  11. ò     640 x 480 screen resolution
  12. ò     SoundBlaster 16 audio card (or 100% compatible)
  13. ò    Suitable loudspeakers or headphones
  14. ò     Windows« 95 or 98

  17. Installation Instructions

  19. Ensure that your Windows 95 or 98 computer is running with no other 
  20. applications open.  Insert the Essential Guide to Moving & Improving 
  21. CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  22.  
  23. If Autorun is enabled on your computer, simply insert the CD-ROM and
  24. the installation program will start. 
  25.  
  26. You must install The Changing Rooms Demo first, followed by 
  27. The Essential Guide to Moving & Improving
  28.  
  29. If Autorun is disabled you should then follow the instructions below.
  30.  
  31. 1.  On the command line type D:\setup.exe then click OK.  (If your CD-ROM 
  32. drive is not drive D, substitute the correct drive letter.)

  34. 2.  You will then see The Essential Guide to Moving & Improving Installation
  35. screen.  From here you will need to install, in order, Changing Rooms CD-ROM Demo,
  36. followed by The Essential Guide to Moving & Improving.  You are also given the
  37. opportunity to install Media Player, Adobe Acrobat and Freebeeb.net if needed.

  39. 3.  Once it is installed, you can run The Essential Guide to Moving & Improving
  40. from the installation screen, or by selecting Start, Programs and the Moving & 
  41. Improving Icon.

  44. Installing Changing Rooms CD-ROM Demo
  45.  
  46. If you need to re-install the Changing Rooms CD-ROM Demo then follow
  47. the instructions below.

  49. 1.  From your Windows desktop, choose start and then Run.
  50.  
  51. 2.  On the command line type D:\bbc\setup.exe then click OK.  (If your 
  52. CD-ROM drive is not drive D, substitute the correct drive letter.)

  54. 3.  To install BBC Changing Rooms Demo, follow the instructions as they 
  55. appear.  If in doubt choose the default options.

  58. If you need to install Media Player follow the instructions below.

  60. 1.  On the command line type D:\media player\setup.exe then click OK.  (If your 
  61. CD-ROM drive is not drive D, substitute the correct drive letter.)

  63. 2.  Follow the on-screen instructions.

  65. If you need to install Adobe Acrobat follow the instructions below.

  67. 1.  On the command line type D:\acrobat\ar40eng.exe then click OK.  (If your 
  68. CD-ROM drive is not drive D, substitute the correct drive letter.)

  70. 2.  Follow the on-screen instructions.

  73. Printing

  75. If you encounter problems when printing from Moving & Improving, you 
  76. should first check that your printer is properly set up, paying especial 
  77. attention to its dots per inch and orientation settings.  If any problem 
  78. you encounter occurs whilst printing from Adobe Acrobat, you may find a 
  79. solution on AdobeÆs web site at http://www.adobe.com/.

  81. If your printer is properly configured and you are still encountering 
  82. problems, you will need to obtain updated drivers from the manufacturer 
  83. of your printer.  These can normally be downloaded free of charge from the 
  84. internet.

  87. Uninstalling
  88.  
  89. Moving & Improving can be uninstalled by selecting Start, Settings, Control 
  90. Panel, 
  91. Add/Remove Programs/Moving & Improving then the Add/Remove button.

  94. TROUBLESHOOTING

  98. Moving & Improving needs Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft« Media Player« 
  99. to be installed on your machine.    
  100. During the Media Player install you will be asked to specify your 
  101. connection speed to the internet.  DonÆt worry if you are not connected 
  102. to the internet, just accept the default options and all will be well.

  104. If you encounter problems when installing or running the BBC Changing Rooms
  105. Demonstration software, you should click Start from your Windows Desktop
  106. followed by Run.  Type D:\BBC\Booklet.hlp (if D is the drive letter of your
  107. CD-ROM) in the box labeled Open, then click OK.  When the Booklet opens,
  108. click the Trouble Shooting option.

  111. Problems with video and audio replay
  112.  
  113. Moving & Improving needs Microsoft Media Player to replay video and audio.  
  114. If you encounter problems with your video or audio replay you should try 
  115. reinstalling Media Player by running the program ômpfullö from your CD-ROM.
  116.  
  117. If you have reinstalled Media Player but are still having problems there is 
  118. probably an incompatibility between the software controlling your display 
  119. and/or audio cards and Microsoft Media Player.  You will need to get updated 
  120. driver software from your computer manufacturer, or the manufacturer(s) of 
  121. your sound and/or display cards.

  123. To find out your cards make and model details click Start from the Windows 
  124. desktop, then Settings, then Control Panel, then System and then click the 
  125. Device Manager Tab.  This will display a list of the hardware comprising your 
  126. system.  Double click the Sound, Video and Game Controller icon and also the 
  127. Display adapters icon and information on your cards will be displayed.  
  128. Updated driver software for your cards should be available for free download 
  129. from the manufacturers' web sites.
